Ever since I was little (too little to reach the counter, even!) I’ve been getting my hands messy in the kitchen making everything from desserts to homemade breads and baked goods.
In the Fall of 2017, my Mom and I began experimenting with different recipes using stevia and gluten free flour blends. Previously we had dabbled with other recipes for sugar-free desserts and grain free breads, etc., but it wasn’t until we purchased the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbooks that we finally began to make a conscious, every-day effort to cut out refined sugars and white flour. There have been many ups and downs along the way, but we’ve enjoyed every moment of our kitchen victories, and I can’t wait to share new recipes with my readers!
On my website I hope you will find all the resources you need to make food to nourish yourself- so you can live for something greater!
SOME NONESSENTIAL BUT FUN TIDBITS ABOUT ME
- I enjoy living outside of town where we are surrounded by the beauty of creation every day. My family and I raise Tunis sheep and when my brother and I were younger, we participated in a 4H program for livestock. In case you are wondering, sheep are very mischievous! … And stupid. They have caused us lots of toil, but also memories and fun times, too! It has definitely given us a new perspective on human nature and what the Bible means when it compares us to “sheep going astray.” Thank God we have a patient shepherd!
- When I was thirteen, I began using Cornerstone Curriculum for my high school years of education which guides students into becoming properly grounded in Christian worldview, truth, and the scriptures, as well as training them to identify false ideology in the culture at large. It has been an amazing journey and I am so thankful for the opportunity to go through this course.
- Aside from baking, I enjoy: reading, writing, anything creative, going on long walks with my BFF up our country road, playing volley ball and occasionally air soft. (for those of you who think having a pebble in your shoe is uncomfortable, try having an elusive air soft BB rolling around somewhere in your sheets! Somehow they end up in the oddest places…
- Other people think I am extremely frugal. I think it’s a bit of an exaggeration since we’ve been blessed with so many things, but when it comes to spending money or scraping the last bit of mayonnaise from the container,I’ll admit I can be a penny pincer! This quality sometimes comes with odd sounding questions such as: “Are these waffles made with bread heels or half eaten crusts?”
- As many of your entrepreneurial-centered minds can relate to, we often get these “brilliant” ideas we love to jump into and drag everyone else along… I am that person! That’s why I decided to keep my YouTube channel a secret until four months after hitting the “publish” button for the first time- I didn’t want to tell all my friends only to find out I couldn’t keep it up a couple months later! My siblings, best friend, and I have a couple funny stories about where my “brilliant” ideas ended up taking us when we were younger. Hint: Think of a really wet and mushy marsh paired with a little kids plastic pool I thought looked strikingly like a “boat” 😛
For many years I experimented with the idea of starting a blog, but I never went any further than publishing anything other than a google blogger page. Then, in 2017, I decided to upload a YouTube review of a popular smoothie, the one and only Yuck Yum Bitty! It turned out that people were actually really excited about my experiments in the kitchen and were enthusiastic about healthy baking recipes, too. Slowly my channel began to grow into a larger platform than I had originally thought!
The one catch was… Everyone wanted me to write down the recipes. Nobody seemed to want to watch the video “a hundred times” and pause it every time I mentioned an ingredient. So instead of adding detailed instructions to the video description and deter people from engaging in my content, I’ve decided to also begin a blog so that more people will have easy access to healthy recipes! My YouTube channel will still be available and I will continue to update it at least once a week, however all my recipes will now be posted on the Unconformed Kitchen blog, as well.
I hope that this outreach is able to provide resources to many more people and is a blessing to you and your family!
Have a nice day!
