Are you new to the world of healthy recipes or looking for recommendations about which ingredients to purchase? Look no further! Here is the master list of my favorite ingredients and where to buy them!

Most of my ingredients are bought either from Amazon.com or from the Trim Healthy Mama online store. You will also find that many of these ingredients are used in my recipes and on other healthy food blogs, so investing in some will enable you to recreate many of our kitchen adventures. 🙂 But don’t forget! You don’t need any of these ingredients to eat healthy and create nutritious meals. These ingredients are simply tools that you may or may not choose to implement into your lifestyle. God has placed us all in unique circumstances and we should seek His will in our purchases and decisions.

My Most Used Ingredients

These are the ingredients I use on a day-to-day basis. No, they aren’t essential, but if you’re going to invest in ingredients this is a good place to start.

1) Pure Stevia extract
Hands down, this is my most often used ingredient. The whole family uses it on a daily basis (no joke,) and it it is worth its weight in gold as far as sugar substitutions go. If you are at all cost-conscious, this is definitely a game-changer. I’ve heard it’s even cheaper than white sugar because of its high potency. (think 1/36th of a teaspoon per serving.) Even the small pack includes over 500 servings of stevia. You can purchase this HERE

2) Super Sweet Blend Meet the Stevia Extracts awesome cousin, Super Sweet! Super sweet is another economical sweetener which does a great job of sweetening yet is a little bit more gentle and versatile than the pure extract. I enjoy super sweet blend a lot in protein shakes, baked goods, and much more. You can purchase super sweet blend HERE:

3) Almond flour, Coconut Flour, and Oat Fiber
I had to put these three together mainly because I’m always mixing them to make my own low glycemic baking blends! Many of my readers like to purchase this baking blend, which I’ll talk about later on, however I’ve never had an issue subbing equal parts of almond flour, coconut flour, and oat fiber for the same amount of baking blend. [ex. 1 cup of baking blend= ⅓ cup each of almond/coconut flour/oat fiber]

Another big reason you may want to consider investing in all three separately is because many healthy recipes will not call specifically for baking blend, but instead will call for either almond flour, coconut flour, etc. Don’t think you’re getting ahead by purchasing pre-mixed blends or you’ll soon wish you had a big ol’ pack of almond flour for that one recipe. Instead, start by making your own baking blend [you can use my easy formula or look up another recipe] and then you will be able to make many more recipes and cut down on the cost of buying the pre-made baking blend.
You can purchase these ingredients HERE:
—> Almond flour (my favorite brand)
—> Oat fiber
—> Coconut Flour (this brands texture is great! Not coarse and crumbly but fine and smooth)

4) Whey powder
Whey powder is a little more expensive but well worth it for the amazing results! Who knew that mixing whey powder and glucomannan powder would result in the creamiest, fluffiest, gigantic-est milkshake?!? I sure didn’t. There are some reputable brands on Amazon, however the Trim Healthy Mama online store carries the purest and most economical brand I’ve come across so far. You can purchase it here:
1 lb bag (unflavored) | 3 lb bag (unflavored)
Don’t forget flavors like:
Chocolate whey and Strawberry flavored whey, too!

5) Glucommamon
Glucommamon is pretty much a superfood and star of the show ingredient wrapped up in one. Along with stevia, I use glucomannan powder almost every day. It’s an amazing non-starchy thickening agent and when blended with ice and whey powder, gives milkshakes an amazing creamy fluffiness that I’m not even going to try to scientifically explain! Speaking of science, glucomannan is also amazing for slowing down your glycemic index response to carbs, so if you have any insulin issues it’s perfect for adding to meals that are centered around healthy carbs. It also makes you feel full extremely fast and is great for people with stubborn weight issues.
You can read more about it and buy some HERE:

6) Cocoa Powder
Yup. unsweetened cocoa powder. I use it in my breakfast custard, milkshakes, hot cocoa, homemade chocolate, and much more. It may seem like a simple ingredient, but if your like me you know the power of a little bit of chocolate!
You can purchase cocoa powder HERE!

7) Coconut oil
Did you know that natives who live on tropical islands use coconut oil as over half of their caloric intake per day?!? … I may or may not fit in perfectly with them 😉 Coconut oil is by far one of my favorite ingredients as far as healthy fats are concerned and is a serious metabolism- revver. It’s great for making homemade chocolate, too!
You can purchase it HERE

Also, if you’re looking for an e-book about coconut oil, you can purchase mine HERE! It approaches the health concerns surrounding the coconut oil industry not only from a scientific perspective, but also historically and biblically. Read about the real heart issue with coconut oil. Hint: it’s not cholesterol.

Last but not least- Apple Cider Vinegar. We go through this stuff so fast! Usually we’ll make a giant pitcher of what my Mom calls ACVD [not to be confused with ACDC 😉 ] that is roughly 4 tablespoons of vinegar mixed with about 8 cups of water and 2-4 donks of stevia. It’s kind of a more laid-back version of the Good girl Moonshine recipe. All my siblings have grown to love it!

WHAT I USE ON A WEEKLY/MONTHLY BASIS

Now that I’ve showed you the ingredients I use every day, it’s time to share my other favorite ingredients. These are things we use on a weekly or monthly basis!

  • Collagen
Great for improving bone density, adding extra protein, youthful skin, nails, and hair, gut health/lining, and muscle-building. Collagen is an amazing superfood that has helped many people overcome their health problems. I love to use it in my hot drinks and my favorite chocolate protein bars.
    You can purchase it HERE:
    AMAZON
THM ONLINE STORE 1 lb | 3 lb
I have tried both of these brands and they are amazing! P.S. both are flavorless.
  • Nutritional yeast - We were putting this stuff on our popcorn before it was even cool! It has a great nutty/cheesy flavor and is actually a descent source of protein, too. We may or may not also eat it plain in melted butter. Yeah. It’s good stuff.
    AMAZON
    THM STORE
  • Gelatin- Great for thickening things and adding extra protein. I mix it into hot cocoa for a quick, protein-rich snack sometimes.)
  • Sunflower Lecithin- Benefits brain health while making your recipes extra smooth and creamy
  • Peanut flour- I use it for no-bake cookies, milkshakes, chocolate, and everything in between. There are some fabulous sugar-free chocolate spreads with peanut flour on the web, too.
  • Oolong tea- “rev, rev, rev, barooooooerrooom” That is the sound your metabolism makes when stimulated by this herbal tea!
  • Xanthan gum- I use this in my recipes to thicken things such as cream sauces or gravies
  • Cacao nibs- An odd ingredient, yes, but oh so good! My mom and I just love the added “crunch” this adds when pulsed into our milkshakes or mixed into no-bake cookies! If there’s one unheard of product I could add to people’s shopping lists, this would be it. It takes a simple recipe such as a mint shake from wow- to WOW!
  • Liquid amino- tastes just like soy sauce (even better!) but WAY healthier for you!
  • MCT oil- similar to coconut oil but even easier to burn and always stays liquid. Great for making homemade mayo.
  • avocado oil- we use this a lot for homemade dressings
  • Balsamic vinegar- another dressing ingredient we mix with avocado oil/mayo. It’s great plain, too.
  • Shredded coconut- I use this for my favorite granola recipe and breakfast porridge a lot.
  • Oats- seriously a budget very versatile and delicious!
  • Baking blend- Here is the pre-made low-glycemic flour blend. Great for if you don’t want to make your own, however I’d recommend trying to make your own too for my reasons above. ^^
  • Glucomannan noodles- a great low-carb pasta alternative!
  • Chia seeds

Face and Skin Care

These are my personal favorites:
• Orange silk hydrating cream [we love this stuff. It’s like rubbing a moisturizing creamsicle on your face… In a good way
• The Spunge- a great Christmas present I got last year! It works wonders on the face (made visible difference,) and is completely natural. Literally all you have to do is get it wet and scrub your face. It lasts a long time, too. Say goodbye to ten step face routines! If I have extra time, though, there are instructions on how to follow with an oil-pulling massage/steam cloth.
• The Fountain [Rose and Baobab anti-aging cream] It’s worth it to read some of the incredible reviews on this- talk about face changing!
• Kit Clear- great for getting rid of acne. I notice a visible difference shortly after using it.
• All-Natural Good Girl Moonshine Lip Balm- No more getting chapped lips just from using chapstick. I use this lip balm often and never get the peeling lips that other brands of chapstick give me.
• Hippie Stick deodorant -Your armpits absorb toxins like nobody’s business, so don’t be putting artificially scented deodorant on them
• Skin Care Kit ‘The works’ 🙂 [pictured on side]

Exersize Resources:

•Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred- a great high intensity workout that builds muscle and burns calories at the same time for maximum effectiveness. [please note: the girls in this demo video are not wearing full coverage workout outfits- you may not feel comfortable watching it with family around.]

THE COOKBOOKS

Don’t forget about the Trim Healthy Mama cookbooks, too! If you’re new to a low glycemic lifestyle, these are worth their weight in gold. I used them when I was first starting out and I still use them on a weekly basis. They have been a huge blessing to our family as well as to families I know.

TRIM HEALTHY MAMA ORIGINAL
Here’s the original book! It’s the one I always go back to. Yes it’s ginormous, but it’s the “real-mccoy!” If you want an in-depth analysis of a low-glycemic lifestyle plus lost of great recipes, this is the book for you. To purchase it, CLICK HERE

TRIM HEALTHY TABLE & TRIM HEALTHY MAMA COOKBOOK

These two cookbooks are both awesome as recipe resources! They are chock full of incredible meals and desserts that all use healthy ingredients and sport stunning photography! While they don’t explain the plan as in-depth as the original cookbook, they are great for providing additional recipes. I have both and think they are an excellent investments for those wanting a compilation of healthy recipes. One of the benefits of owning them is that they give lots of dinner/savory meal ideas as opposed to just desserts.

THE PLAN
If you’re just interested in learning the plan and not getting any recipes, stories, or extras, this shorter book is a great recap of how to balance your blood sugar and regain your health. It does not provide any recipes but it’s a great way to familiarize yourself with the basics.
